Wang Yi: The International Community Should Continue Supporting the Just Proposition of Palestine
2017/12/22

On December 21, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi gave an interview to China Central Television on the Palestinian issue.

Wang Yi expressed that China has always concerned about the Palestinian issue. China believes that the Palestinian people have legitimate rights to found a country, which also conforms to the common wish of the international community. China has actively promoted the peaceful settlement of the Palestine-Israel issue on various occasions. The settlement direction of the Palestine-Israel issue has been set, which is the "two-state solution". We support an independent Palestinian state that enjoys full sovereignty, with East Jerusalem as its capital and based on the 1967 borders.

Wang Yi expressed that the United Nations (UN) General Assembly would discuss the issue of Jerusalem today. I believe that most countries would continue supporting the just proposition as well as the historical and long-cherished wish of Palestine. It has been 70 years since the UN passed the resolution on Palestine Partition Plan. However, the dream of Palestine to found a country has not been realized to this day. It is a historical tragedy, which should not be continued. The responsible countries should stand out and speak in one voice to bring the Palestine-Israel issue back to the track of dialogue and negotiation. Particularly, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the UN, we should respect the wishes of most countries, so that the ultimate settlement of the Palestinian issue could be realized.
