Esteemed Mr. Lang, Undersecretary of State of Foreign Ministry, Mr. Pudlowski, Chairman of Digitalization Committee of Sejm, Mr. Dziadzio, Secretary of State of Ministry of Environment, Deputy President Soczynski, Deputy Marshall Baryla, Deputy Marshall Kopysc, Mr. Trojak,

Excellencies, Dear compatriots,

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,

In this beautiful autumn season, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Poland, I am honoured to warmly welcome all our guests. It is a great pleasure to be with all of you today to celebrate this important festival for Chinese people.

70 extraordinary years, 70 years of brilliant accomplishments. In these past 70 years, the Chinese Communist Party has led the whole nation in hard work towards prosperity, and to bring a closed, backward and poor old China into a new era of openness, progress, and prosperity. The Chinese nation has ushered in a great leap forward from standing up and getting rich to becoming strong!

----Today's China has a total GDP exceeding US$13.6 trillion, an increase ofmore than 450 times compared with the beginning of the PRC. She ranks as the world's second largest economy, is the largest industrial country, and has the largest foreign exchange reserves in the world.

----Today's China has lifted more than 700 million people in rural areas out of poverty, and more than 400 million people who have entered the middle-class. The life expectancy has increased from 35 years old in the early years of the PRC to 77 years in 2018, and the country is on the verge of building a moderately prosperous society.

----Today's China, for the sixth consecutive year, ranked the world's second-largest R&D investment country. The number of R&D personnel and patent applications have ranked first in the world for 6 and 8 consecutive years respectively. 5G communication, mobile payment, quantum communication, supercomputing, high-speed rail and other innovative technologies – that is China's "new business card".

----Today's China has established diplomatic relations with 178 countries, has joined almost all intergovernmental international organizations and signed more than 400 international multilateral treaties, as well as the BRI cooperation documents with 136 countries and 30 international organizations, and the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind was written into multiple UN resolutions.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,

How was it possible for the Chinese nation, whose civilization dates back over 5,000 years to recover its vitality? How was it possible for poor and weak China to once more stand tall and firm in the East?

----The credit for all of this goes to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party.Since the CCP came into power 70 years ago, her mission has always been seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. The Party constantly brings forth new guiding principles, leading the country on the right road. The Party mobilizes all positive factors and forges strong momentum of development. The party stays open-minded and formulates policies based on scientific facts. And she has the courage to carry out self-reform and conduct strict self-governance. Under her guidance, Chinese people have been creating miraculous economic growth and political stabilityunmatched anywhere in the world.

----The credit for all of this goes also to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. As its roots grow from the Chinese land, it reflects the will of the Chinese people, adapts to the development and progress of China and the times, and has profound historical origins and extensive pragmatic foundations. Now, as we are ina new era, we will push forward the "five in one" overall arrangement, we will advance coordinated development of "four comprehensives" strategy, we will focus on improving the level of modernization of the national governance system and its capacity. Walking down the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, we make it widerwith each step, and the wider the road, the more secure it is.

----The credit for all of this alsogoes to the reform and opening up. It is a "crucial step" on the road to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. In the face of an increasingly complex and competitive international environment, in the face of challenges of interwoven old and new problems and conflicts in the domestic development, China will continue to unswervingly create an "upgraded version" of reform and opening up. Particular attention is brought to opening China's doors wider and wider. With BRI as a focal point, China will attach equal importance to "bringing in" investments and "going global",and will build a new pattern of the all-round opening-up.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,

This year alsomarks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Poland diplomatic relations. Although our two countries are separated by numerous mountains and seas, we are connected by a deep bond of friendship. It took a mere six days since the dawn of new China, for the two sides to formally establish diplomatic relations. Over the past 70 years, regardless of the international situation, wind and rain, China and Poland have always treated each other with equality and showed mutual respect; we have always worked hand in hand towards mutually beneficial cooperation. The new chapter for China-Poland relations opened in 2016, when the heads of the two countries made an important decision to upgrade bilateral relations to the comprehensive strategic partnership level.

----Over the past three years, the strategic relations between China and Poland have been steadily strengthening. The leaders of the two countries have held many meetings, exchanges between the two sides have been frequent, and the cooperation mechanisms in various fields have been increasingly complete. It has enhanced mutual understanding and political trust, allowing both sides to see each other as an important partner for self-development and expanding diplomatic layout.

----Over the past three years, the mutual benefits of China-Poland relations have been furhter increasing. Under the framework of the BRI and the "17+1 cooperation" , both countries have already established cooperation in the fields of trade, investments, finances and interconnections. Those four make a very nice "four-in-hand" indeed. For the past 14 years Poland has been China's largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe. The number of Chinese-funded enterprises in Poland has increased to nearly 70, and the total direct and indirect investment is close to US$3 billion. Many Chinese banks have set up branches in Poland. 80 pct. of the China Railway Express trains arrive in or transit via Poland.

----Over the past three years, the welfare of our people coming from China-Poland relations has continued to consolidate. The number of visitors from China have grown exponentially, from 70,000 in 2016 to 180,000 in 2018. There are 37 pairs of sister cities. Nearly 3,000 students on both sides took part in the foreign exchange programs in China and Poland. Already 14 colleges and universities in China offer Polish language courses, and in Poland there are five Confucius Institutes and two Confucius Classrooms. The sixth Confucius Institute will open next week at the Warsaw University of Technology.

----Over the past three years, the synergy in our relations is gradually more visible. Both our countries support rules of international order and multilateral trading system, and maintain active communication on issues concerning world and regional peace, stability and prosperity. Chinese side supported Poland in fulfilling her duties as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2018-19. China had also actively participated in 24th COP conference held last year in Katowice.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,

Retracing the past we can foresee the future. There are no historical grievances between China and Poland and nowadays, there is no fundamental conflict of interest, and both our peoples have a sincere desire to know each other. We can say, that in the past 70 years, "friendship" and "cooperation" have always been the keywords for China-Poland relations.

Nowadays, when the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, ties between countries and peoples are unprecedently close. Both China and Poland face the arduous challenge of transforming the model of their economic development and enhancing social cohesion and innovation. The 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations should serve as a great opportunity for both countries. We should use it to further promote China-Poland comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level, to let it cover an even larger area of cooperation, reach even deeper development, and achieve even greater success. It will help China and Poland on their way to become powerful countries in the world and achieve national rejuvenation.

As an ancient Chinese saying goes, "A friendship forged with the right approach defies geographical distance; it is thicker than glue and stronger than metal and stone.", I deeply believe that as long as the two sides take into account all circumstances, hold on to the comprehensive and long-term vision, enhance mutual trust, focus on cooperation, and eliminate interference,in the next 70 years, the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Poland will go another step further, and the flower of our friendship will grow even stronger.

Now may I invite you to join me in a toast:

To the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China,

To the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Poland,

To the bright future of the China-Poland friendship,

To the health of all our friends,
